The Real-Time Analytics of Transportation Data, or REACTOR, Lab serves as a focal point for traffic operations research at InTrans.

Operating under InTrans’ Center for Transportation Research and Education, the lab’s research team is developing technology to transform continual data streams into decision support and solutions. The goal is early detection of traffic incidents and better traffic management that will improve safety and mobility. The REACTOR Lab began in 2013 in conjunction with serving as a focal point for supporting the Iowa Department of Transportation’s (DOT’s) Office of Traffic Operations (OTO). Since inception, this work has been expanded regionally and nationally through work for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), National Science Foundation, and Industry.
